We are a small business dedicated to crafting high-quality, small-batch woodworking products.

Scott Lane, the owner and lead creator, has refined his woodworking skills for over 14 years in Butte County, guided by his mentor. He meticulously ensures the quality of each product by selecting the quality tree pieces, processing them into slabs or chunks, and then handcrafting each item.

In addition to our handcrafted items, we also provide a unique variety of slabs and blanks for other woodworkers, creators, or anyone looking to create a custom piece for a project of their own.

Scott’s vision for Against The Grain Works is to create unique, timeless, and functional pieces that also serve as works of art. He takes great joy in collaborating with clients to transform their ideas into custom woodworking creations.
